Oil tanker ablaze in the Gulf of Mexico

About 168,000 liters of diesel and gasoline went up in flames over the weekend on an oil tanker seven nautical miles from the port city Boca del Rio.


Mexico's state-owned oil company is working intensely alongside firefighters to put out a fire blazing on one of the company's large oil tankers.

The vessel Burgos was headed into port in the Gulf of Mexico when the fire erupted, seven nautical miles from the port city Boca del Rio. One international nautical mile corresponds to 1,852 meters.
