Statoil plant just two millimeters from sparking major gas accident

It was a stroke of sheer luck that an accident didn't occur, says Norwegian union boss after serious corrosion was discovered in a propane tank.

During a surface check of Statoil's gas processing plant in August at Kårstø near the Norwegian city of Stavanger, something very wrong was discovered just beneath the surface. Or, more correctly, on the surface.
