Ardent makes entrance into offshore after oil crisis

Ardent has now won several decommissioning contracts for drilling platforms after years of trying to get its foot in the door. "I think that many players in the oil industry have a mantra which goes 'low oil price forever'," the CEO tells ShippingWatch.

Several years of low oil prices and weak market prospects have enabled Ardent to start making money on decommissioning.

Maersk Group's salvage company has tried for some time to get in on the business of taking down old oil platforms. But things did not really take off until this year, says CEO Peter Pietka.
