New container alliances trigger job boom in Wilhelmshaven

Wilhelmshaven in Germany is among the ports that have benefited from the new container alliances, and the port will now expand its workforce by one third in order to meet carriers' demand.

While numerous ports across the globe are left standing as losers after the new container alliance networks were launched in the spring, Germany's Wilhelmshaven is on the winning side.

The port expects to expand its workforce from 400 to 600 people within the next couple of years, adding that this is attributed to the fact that two of the container alliances picked Wilhelmshaven as network port.
