Global Ports boosted by growing Russian imports

Russian terminal operator Global Ports, partially owned by Maersk, reports growth for the first time in years – a development aided by increasing imports to Russia.

Container volumes handled by Russia's Global Ports, partially owned by Maersk Group, seem to be hugely expanding after years during which the terminal operator was severely strained by the trade sanctions imposed on Russia.

The company's annual report for 2017, published Wednesday, shows a 16 percent surge in container throughput in Global Ports' terminals for the full year, and this growth was especially evident in the second half of the year.
