Drewry: Global ports acquisition creates major Baltic player

If partially Maersk-owned Global Ports successfully acquires competitor NCC, the resulting company will have a dominating presence on the Russian part of the Baltic market, says Drewry.

If Russian Global Ports Investment's efforts to acquire Moscow-based NCC, Russia's second-largest terminal operator, are approved, the new unit will have a dominant presence on the Russian part of the Baltic market, says Drewry in a new analysis.

According to the analysts, calculations indicate that the unit in the first half of 2013 had a proforma market share of 70 percent in the region.
