Maritime industry warns against EU port proposal

The EU Commission's proposal aimed at bigger market access and transparency in European ports has been completely watered down, according to shipowners, forwarders, and shippers.

In an open letter, shipowners, forwarders, shipbrokers, and shippers warn the members of the European Parliament's Transport Committee against voting for the EU Commission's proposal to liberalize European ports, stating that the proposal does not cover areas such as cargo handling, passenger services, and pilotage.
