Swedish oil company Preem, which produces green diesel in the Port of Gothenburg, wants to boost its production and has thus opted to invest EUR 33.5 million in expanding the company's refinery in the port.
Preem has - since 2010 - been producing diesel based on a residual oil from the wood industry (tall oil). The oil is transported from Piteå to the Port of Gothenburg, where it is refined to the point where it has the same properties as regular diesel oil. The end product has one third renewable content, also known as Evolution Diesel. Other vegetable or animal oils can be used in the production process, including rapeseed oil.
