The world's biggest ports had a solid first quarter. The ports achieved an improved revenue, though not at the same rapid growth rate as in the third and fourth quarter 2013, according to a new survey from the Shanghai International Shipping Institute.

Even though the European economy is not doing too well, and the Chinese ports' performance is less than stellar, the institute estimates that the same positive trend will continue in the second quarter of the year, based on the fact that economy and trade in Europe, Asia, and North America are slowly but steadily improving.
