Less cargo through the Port of Hamburg

Freight volumes through the Port of Hamburg were lower in the first quarter of this year than in the same quarter last year. Container took the biggest blow but dry bulk and general cargo declined as well.

During the first three months of the year, The Port of Hamburg handled a total of 34.8 million tons of cargo. This is a decline of 2.5 percent compared to the same quarter last year, according to a press release from the port which attributes the downturn to the economic slowdowns in Russia and China.
