SeaIntel: Ships use far less time in African ports

In the past year ships spent less time in ports in East and West Africa, according to a new analysis. Overall port dwell times have gone down significantly in recent years, reducing costs for carriers, notes SeaIntel in new analysis.

Ships spend less time in ports in East and West Africa than in the past, according to a new analysis from SeaIntel. Since 2011, port dwell times have declined significantly from an average of around 50 hours in covered ports to around 37.5 hours so far in 2016. This figure came to an average of 42 hours in 2015.
