Tough 2017 cost 835 jobs at DNV GL

The world's largest classification bureau for shipping, DNV GL, had another challenging year in 2017. The coming year will also be tough for the maritime business, and the slimming down of the company is likely not done, CFO Thomas Vogth-Eriksen tells ShippingWatch.

Norwegian DNV GL was again strained by the maritime markets in 2017.

In recent years, the classification bureau has felt the consequences of the downturn in the oil and gas sector as well as in shipping, which along with the implementation of newly-merged company has also included a significant workforce reduction since 2013.
