Shipping associations on the sulfur switch: Far from devoid of problems

Although several have pointed out that the shift from heavy fuels to low-sulfur fuels went fairly well, several shipping associations say that there have been problems related to quality as well as safety. "It's a problem," says Bimco.

It has been far from a smooth transition for shipping companies to switch to fuels with lower sulfur content, as became mandatory across the globe from the turn of the year, say several shipping associations.
