Maersk Line CEO replaces Smedegaard as Group CEO

A.P. Moeller-Maersk appoints new Chief Executive. Maersk Line CEO Søren Skou replaces Nils Smedegaard Andersen as Group CEO of the shipping and oil conglomerate. Søren Skou will continue as head of Maersk Line.

Søren Skou, the current CEO of Maersk Line, the world largest container carrier, will replace Nils Smedegaard Andersen as Group CEO of Denmark's A.P. Moeller-Maersk shipping and oil conglomerate.

In a statement from the group, the Maersk Board of Directors attributes the decision to the fact that the company since 2008 has been through a phase characterized by improvements across all business units.
