Hamburg Süd closes sale of its dry bulk business

German carrier Hamburg Süd, owned by Maersk, receives approval for the sale of its dry bulk business. The deal involves roughly 45 ships and makes it possible for the carrier to focus on container business.

Maersk-owned Hamburg Süd has completed the sale of its dry bulk activities to The China Navigation Company (CNCo), which is a subsidiary of Swire Group.

The deal was made by the two companies in late January but has been pending final regulatory approval. This has now been given, closing the sale.
