Ulrik Andersen enters dry bulk in the midst of one of the sector's biggest downturns

Ulrik Andersen has taken over as chief executive officer of John Fredriksen's dry bulk carrier Golden Ocean in a market currently in the doldrums. But the new CEO sees bright spots ahead. In an interview with ShippingWatch, he gives some insight about the strategic review that company has now launched.

In recent weeks, Ulrik Andersen has  been through quite the baptism by fire in the dry bulk sector, which since the start of the year has been struggling with weak rates and bad news out of both China and Brazil.

The Dane recently started his new job at John Fredriksen-controlled Golden Ocean. He switched from a completely different shipping segment, namely from gas ship operator Avance Gas, which is also controlled by Norwegian-Cypriot Frederiksen.
