Thieves stole costly bunker oil from Norden vessel

A Norden dry bulk vessel was targeted by thieves while anchored off the coast of China. During the night the thieves drained and stole a sizeable portion of the ship's expensive low sulfur bunker oil.

Dry bulk vessel Nord Power (photo) from Danish carrier Norden got quite a different surprise on New Year's Eve than the crew likely expected. According to the monthly report from Singapore-based RECAAP, the vessel was targeted by thieves on January 1st this year who - while the ship was anchored off the coast of China by Tinajin - drained the expensive low sulfur bunker oil from the vessel's tank.
