J. Lauritzen owner suffers loss of USD 244 million

Lauritzen Fonden recorded a massive deficit in the wake of problems with bulk carrier J. Lauritzen. But it could have been much worse were it not for the foundation's controlling stake in recent success story, logistics group DFDS.

2015 was a historically bad year for dry bulk, and the Lauritzen Fonden fund, which owns carrier J. Lauritzen, can certainly feel the bad times.

The fund booked a deficit of USD 244 million after tax in a year which saw its entity J. Lauritzen brought to its knees by the fierce competition in the ailing market.
