Major depletion of container reliability in 2017

Shippers had to wait even longer for their cargo in 2017 than in 2016, because container carrier reliability was significantly worsened, show new figures. Maersk Line has been reduced to 10th place.

Shippers were less likely to see their cargo arrive on time in 2017 than in 2016.

The overall schedule reliability for container carriers refers to whether container cargo arrives at its destination at the agreed upon time and, according to a review from SeaIntel, this was much worse in 2017 than in 2016.The review shows that schedule reliability declined 8.4 percent from 2017 to 2016 for the 18 largest container carriers in the world combined.
