US Federal Maritime Commission to investigate fees from carriers

The Federal Maritime Commission in the US will be looking into whether or not container shipping companies are charging customers with unfair fees for not retrieving and returning containers on time.

The US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) will be investigating some of the detention and demurrage fees that container carriers charge their customers, when containers are not returned by the agreed deadline.
