CMA CGM acquires chronically loss-making logistics firm

France's CMA CGM plans to buy one fourth of Ceva Logistics, but the huge financial losses at the logistics firm remind Alphaliner of the struggles for Maersk in the quest to make Damco profitable.

A decade of chronic and systematic losses in Ceva Logistics, which have accumulated to around USD 3 billion since 2007, did not deter French liner shipping company CMA CGM from placing a bid on one fourth of the Swiss logistics firm.
