Foreign companies go free in Icelandic cartel case

The competition authorities in Iceland are currently only focusing on Eimskip and Samskip in a protracted case about secret pricing agreements. Previously, the authorities indicated that there might be a connection to companies outside the country.

So far, it looks like non-Icelandic shipping companies will go free in a cartel case, where the country's two largest carriers Eimskip and Samskip have been accused of price-fixing for years.

The Icelandic Competition Authority recently wrote that foreign companies might have been involved. The authority wrote this in a document, which lists the preliminary charges against the two container carriers.
