See the list: This is how many ships major carriers will receive this year

MSC is set to close in on Maersk in a 2019 in which the Italian liner shipping company has significantly more newbuilds underway than competitors, shows new Alphaliner analysis. Cosco also continues its fleet growth with the second-largest orderbook.

With almost 20 newbuilds set for delivery for a total capacity of 334,550 teu, MSC has far more newbuilds on its way in 2019 than the other major liner companies, shows an analysis of the biggest carriers' orders for 2019 performed by analyst firm Alphaliner.

Maersk, conversely, is set for a relatively small fleet expansion, with a total of 73,606 teu distributed across six ships, set for delivery in 2019. Three of the ships are set for delivery in January and already have service agreements in place. According to Alphaliner, the remaining three will be delivered in the first half of 2019.
