EU Commission will extend block exemption regulation for container shipping

The European Commission wants to extend the consortia block exemption regulation, BER, for container shipping lines. The commission calls for comments in a consultation period. The current regulation is set to expire in April 2020.

The EU Commission and Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager considers an extension of the so-called consortia block exemption regulation for container shipping, or BER.

The proposed extension comes after the Commission has evaluated the current BER.
