Few years from now 1,000 container ships could be fitted with scrubbers

Container ships accounting for more than one tenth of capacity measured in teu will have a scrubber installed by early next year when the new sulfur regulations have come into force, projects Alphaliner. The number could rise significantly in the next Few years.

According to Alphaliner, MSC in particular has been hit hard by the waiting time for scrubber installations. On the other hand, the shipping company looks set to benefit the most from its scrubbers when they are all installed. Photo: PR/MSC
