The coronavirus outbreak has caused major delays on ship retrofits in China, where container lines must have looked on in frustration as vessels have had to wait for increasingly longer periods of time to have scrubbers installed.
In particular, the world's second-largest container line, MSC, which was among the first to order scrubbers for several ships, has been impacted by the extended delays at shipyards. According to analyst firm Alphaliner, more than 20 vessels have been dry-docked at yards for more than 100 days.
