MPC sees several signs of improved container market

Container shipping company MPC Container Ships sees "encouraging signs of improvement" in the container market, largely driven by a low orderbook and rates that have started climbing again.

The container market is on the mend and is showing "encouraging signs of improvement", says Constantin Baack, chief executive of MPC Container Ships.

In the shipping company's most recent interim report, he specifically points to the number of inactive container ships that were removed from operations during the coronavirus pandemic, but which have since returned to sea due to shipping companies resuming operations.
