The world's container shipping majors appear to be moving toward clearer identities, centered around one overarching brand rather than several smaller subsidiaries, assesses shipping analyst Lars Jensen in the wake of Tuesday's announcement that Maersk will discontinue subsidiaries Safmarine and Damco.

As ShippingWatch reported Monday, the two subsidiaries will soon cease to exist as independent brands and will instead be fully integrated into Maersk.
