Rates for US-bound freight approaching 10,000-dollar mark

With a 229-percent increase from last year, freight rates for goods bound for the US are approaching USD 10,000, shows data from Drewry.

The demand from US consumers is sky-high, which has propelled the rates for container freight bound for the US to almost USD 10,000, according to data from analyst firm Drewry.

On the spot market, the price comes to 9,631 for sending a 40-foot container from Shanghai in China to Los Angeles in the US.
