Spot prices on global container freight continue the downward trajectory, having declined for 19 weeks in a row as of Friday.

This week, the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI), which measures spot prices on box freight from Shanghai to a number of destinations around the globe, fell by 1.9 percent to 1,178.69.

That is the smallest weekly decline in 12 weeks and furthermore the lowest level since Nov. 6, 2020.

The declining trend in spot rates is, however, not evident from shipping giant Maersk’s stock on Friday morning, with the company’s B share increasing by 0.6 percent.
