Hapag-Lloyd sends large chunk of profit into Hamburg city coffers

A large portion of Hapag-Lloyd’s billion-dollar profit ends up with the city state of Hamburg, even though the carrier benefits from low taxation.

While Maersk is criticized for paying too little taxes in Denmark, another carrier is bolstering state income just south of Denmark’s border.
