Researcher: Maersk should lead global battle against drugs in shipping

Drug smuggling on container ships is a huge problem for the shipping industry that Maersk cannot solve alone. Carriers and states should learn from the fight against piracy, says senior researcher.

The smuggling of cocaine and other drugs is such an overwhelming problem for shipping that Maersk and other shipping companies alone cannot solve the problem of combating illegal activities that take place in ports, on ships, and in containers.
