MSC gets approval to begin Hamburg acquisition

The container carrier can now begin the process of buying into the port company HHLA, a process that MSC expects to be completed in the second quarter of 2024.

Major container carrier Mediterranean Shipping Company, MSC, has received permission from the German authorities to start buying up shares in Hamburg’s largest port operator, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA), according to several media, including the German Handelsblatt.
