P3 carriers behind the biggest fleet growth

Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), and CMA CGM have performed the biggest fleet expansions since 2009, according to a new survey performed by SeaIntel.

Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), and CMA CGM, the three largest container carriers in the world and partners in the coming P3 alliance, account for the biggest fleet growth in the industry from 2009 to 2013. The Top 20 carriers increased their fleets by more than 40 percent combined in the period from 2009 to 2014, according to a survey performed by SeaIntel Maritime Analysis on the development of the total fleet capacity and cargo volumes between Asia and Europe in the individual carriers.
