Maersk Line and its partner MSC in the announced 2M alliance, along with the new Ocean Three collaboration between CMA CGM, China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) and United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) will, due to their existing fleets of ULCVs (Ultra Large Container Vessels) and combined orderbook, achieve the biggest competitive advantages in the industry by far in terms of costs. This applies to the major trades between Asia and Northern Europe in particular, says SeaIntel in its newsletter Sunday Spotlight.
