Major impairment in Rickmers' Singapore company

Current and expected weak charter rates on container ships forced Rickmers Maritime in Singapore to perform a USD 63 million impairment in the 3rd quarter 2014.

German Rickmers' Singapore-listed owner of 16 container ships, Rickmers Maritime, suffered a deficit of around USD 53 million in the 3rd quarter 2014.

In light of the current and expected charter rates, Rickmers Maritime has performed an impairment on six of the company's ships, for a total of USD 44.4 million, along with a goodwill impairment charge for USD 18.6 million, putting total impairments at USD 63 million.
