CMA CGM made USD 201 million profit

French container carrier CMA CGM achieved a significantly better result in the 3rd quarter 2014 compared to the same period last year. Growth in transported volumes increased 8.3 percent.

French CMA CGM, the world's third-largest container carrier, achieved a net profit of USD 201 million in the 3rd quarter - a significant improvement from the same period last year, where the carrier made USD 70 million.

Consolidated revenue in the 3rd quarter came to USD 4.4 billion, a 6.4 percent improvement compared to the 3rd quarter 2013, while total transported container volumes increased 8.3 percent, to 3.2 million teu (20-foot containers). This is the highest level ever for the group, says CMA CGM in the carrier's interim report, published Monday.
