Order boom for ultra-large container vessels in 2015

Analyst agency Alphaliner points to a new wave of orders for container vessels with a capacity of more than 18,000 teu. 39 newbuilding orders for the ultra-large vessels have been placed so far this year, corresponding to 60 percent more than last year.

The combined capacity of container ships ordered this year has so far climbed to 1.04 million teu, a 60 percent increase compared to orders placed in the same period last year, according to a new analysis performed by Alphaliner.
