50 pct more idle container ships in July
Void sailings caused by an overall shortage of demand for container shipping between Europe and Asia contribute to the idle capacity, reports Alphaliner. Significantly fewer ships were scrapped this year.

By the end of July this, unemployment in the number of container ships had increased 50 percent, measured by combined containers, compared to the same period last year, according to Alphaliner.
