Venezuela's debt to carriers is close to USD one billion

Container carriers such as Hamburg Süd and Maersk Line are struggling to recover their debts from state agencies in chronically crisis-stricken Venezuela, reports Reuters.

Venezuela's debt to foreign carriers is teetering close to one billion US dollars. According to news agency Reuters, the growing debt to carriers such as Hamburg Süd and Maersk Line is due to the fact that state agencies and authorities have held on to containers for several months, or simply never returned them.
