UASC gains support for merger with Hapag-Lloyd

Shareholders in container carrier United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) support a potential merger with Germany's Hapag-Lloyd. However, a formal vote has yet to be held regarding the merger, stresses the carrier, which is still in negotiations with the German company.

A German-Arab container carrier came one step closer to after shareholders in United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) cleared a possible merger with Hapag-Lloyd.

On Thursday, the Arab container carrier held an extraordinary general assembly at its headquarters i Dubai which ended with support for the merger with the German carrier, according to Reuters.
