Aker-owned Ocean Yield invests in ultra large container ships

The Aker-owned shipowner Ocean Yield has bought shares in six new container ships with 19,500 teu each, all currently owned by Quantum Pacific, the company informs in a corporate statement.

During a time where shipowners are being bombarded with demands for reduced rates from carriers, shipowner Ocean Yield has spent USD 162 million on a stake in six container newbuildings which are under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries and set for delivery in the period from this June to February 2017, informs Ocean Yield in a press release.
