Hamburg Süd CEO: I will retire after the Maersk takeover

Ottmar Gast, CEO of Hamburg Süd, tells German newspaper Hamburger Abendblatt that he will retire at the end of 2017 when the sale to Maersk Line is expected to be completed.

Ottmar Gast will step down as Chief Executive Officer of Hamburg Süd at the end of 2017 when Maersk Line's takeover of the German container carrier is expected to be completed.

However, Hamburg Süd will likely continue to operate with a CEO based at the carrier's headquarters on Willy-Brandt-Straße in Hamburg, Gast tells newspaper Hamburger Abendblatt.
