These are the two biggest challenges for container in 2017

A price war between the new container alliances from April this year and a doubling of bunker costs could destroy hopes of a notably better 2017 for the large container carriers, says Alphaliner.

Although growth in the global container fleet in 2016 was the lowest ever registered, and the number of end-of-life and superfluous container vessels sold for scrapping has never been higher, carriers' hopes of a significantly better 2017 are on shaky ground.
