Samskip beat rival in fight for billion-dollar Norwegian exports

Netherlands-based Samskip acted quickly when it recently acquired Nor Lines. Icelandic rival Eimskip was forced to withdraw as a potential buyer of the Norwegian logistics company and carrier, at the request of the Norwegian competition authorities. The authorities deemed that Eimskip, which is already prominent in the country, would impede effective competition in the market for the freight of frozen fish with reefer vessels from the northern part of Norway to North Europe.
