Russian Sovcomflot joins with gas company Novatek in establishing a joint venture for LNG sailings in the Northeast Passage. The tanker carrier also announces a number a newbuilds, the first of which will be delivered in 2023.

Tanker shipping line Sovcomflot joins with Russian gas company Novatek in establishing an LNG shipping company.

The new joint venture will be named Smart LLC, and its purpose will be to ensure transport from Novatek's Arctic LNG-2 facility as well as other future projects the gas company might initiate.
