BW LPG plans to install dual-fuel engines on board 15 ships in total

BW LPG plans to install dual-fuel LPG engines on board three more vessels than the already planned 12. The engines are supplied by MAN Energy Solutions. BW LPG's Chief Executive Anders Onarheim sees both financial and practical benefits for the company, he tells ShippingWatch.

Tanker vessel BW Gemini has just left the port in Houston as the first vessel to commercially bunker LPG and use it as a fuel during its voyage.

The owner of the vessel is the BW group's tanker carrier BW LPG, which has now launched operations with the vessel after completing several successful tests. Originally, the carrier planned to retrofit 12 vessels to allow them to sail on LPG by installing dual-fuel engines, but another three vessels have just been added to that list.
