Clarksons sees VLCC day rates passing USD 100,000 before long

The crude oil market upswing, which is largely driven by forthcoming sanctions against Russia, has Clarksons moving forward its scenario on when VLCC rates will pass the milestone of USD 100,000 per day. The trend has carriers making fleet replacements.

According Clarksons, very large crude carrier (VLCC) rates have increased by an entire 30 percent and now passed USD 80,000 per day, but the major shipbroker says it will not be long before they go above USD 100,000.
