"Grey fleet" of tankers makes carriers slam the brakes on scrapping

High rates and demand for older tankers to carry Russian oil make shipping companies turn their backs on scrapyards, according to analysis from BRS.

A tanker market composed of high demand, few vessels, a small order book, and a new ”grey” fleet of older tankers carrying oil from sanction-hit Russia is making carriers scrap far fewer vessels than expected.
