Maersk VLCC purchase named deal of the year

Belgian Euronav's acquisition of Maersk's fleet of 15 supertankers for more than USD one billion in January 2014 ranks as one of the best business deals in shipping in recent years. For the buyer, that is.

Euronav's purchase of the 15 supertankers from Maersk ranks as the best deal out of 30 transactions performed in international shipping since June 2012, and since the survey was performed, Euronav's financial gain compared to the current VLCC prices has probably increased even more.
