Maersk VLCC purchase named deal of the year

Belgian Euronav's acquisition of Maersk's fleet of 15 supertankers for more than USD one billion in January 2014 ranks as one of the best business deals in shipping in recent years. For the buyer, that is.

Belgian Eurovan made an remarkably good deal when the stock-listed carrier in January of this year completed the acquisition of Maersk Tankers' VLCC fleet, a total of 15 vessels. At least compared to other major ship transactions, according to data from vesselsvalue.com.
